Casual and elegant, this Riedel Tyrol Cabernet glass is part of a brand new glass series introduced in Spring 2007. This glass stands on a solid half sphere, offering amazing light reflection, while each bowl is developed for the enjoyment of popular grape varieties and beverages. The Tyrol series is made of lead crystal, which lends itself to a solid base with great stability, while giving it never ending sparkle. The name Tyrol commemorates the Riedel Family's new beginning 50 years ago in Austria in the federal state of Tyrol. These glasses come in a set of 2 and are designed to enhance the enjoyment of full-bodied red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com Review
Riedel continues to impress the wine world with its innovative designs. The Tyrol line, released in 2007, adopts an intermediary position between the completely stemless O wine tumblers that set a national trend and Riedel's long-stemmed, more fragile beauties. Each Tyrol glass features a short stem, more of a foot really, that is half of a solid sphere, lending great stability and reducing breakage worries. Crafted in Bavaria of sparkling leaded crystal yet dishwasher-safe, Tyrol is perfect for a casual, more contemporary approach to fine dining at home.
This set includes two Tyrol Cabernet glasses, the second largest in volume of the entire collection (only the Shiraz glass is larger). Each Cabernet glass holds a maximum capacity of 24-1/8 ounces and stands 6-1/8 inches tall. While designed to bring out the best attributes of full-bodied red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the glasses also work excellently for beer and soft drinks. Out of a long 250-year history, the renowned Riedel glass company has been based in the Austrian state of Tyrol for 50 years now, hence the commemorative name of the new collection. --Ann Bieri
Customer Reviews
great, but late
I would have given it a 5 star rating if it had arrived on the estimated date of new years eve. Instead it arrived 2 days later. It was one hour away from my house on the 29th.
Wanted to compare to Riedel "O"
I've been a fan of the Riedel "O" glass for a number of years and wanted to try this new addition to the "little or no stem" glass. These have more stability than the "O" but are a bit clunky. My jury is still out. First impression is that I'd stick with Riedel "O" glass. Benefit might be that these are less fragile.
